Ahoy Fellow Tall Ship Admirers,
We are sending this to update you on how the Tall Ship Fiddlers Dream restoration is
progressing and to let you know some of the exciting events that are coming up. Deck plank
installation is still in progress and almost 90% complete. Don’t forget to purchase your deck
plank piece. This is a perfect gift for the person who has everything. All Deck Plank Pieces are 6
inches long. If you have forgotten the purchase price here is a reminder.
Covering Board Plank – planks used at the outside curved edge of the deck, 8 inches wide and
1.5 inches thick- $200
King Plank – planks used down the center of the deck, 8 inches wide and 1.5 inches thick – $150
Deck Plank – planks used to cover the remaining of the deck, 3.5 inches wide and 1.5 inches
thick – $100
The work parties to perform the deck plank installation will be advertised on our web site or
social media and those who have volunteered will be sent the information directly via email.
There is usually something going on every weekend so join in or come check out the progress.
Our volunteers are doing great work under the guidance of our Shipwrights. There was an article
in the Central Kitsap Reporter about our lead shipwright, Scott Kimmit on March 17, 2017. View
it at http://www.kitsapdailynews.com/print-editions-central-kitsap/?iid=i20170316133827181. This is the progress in the aft section, almost complete.

The last deck plank (Whiskey Plank) will be installed soon and we will have the Whiskey Plank
celebration. The date and time will be announced soon.
April has been a month of clean up and organization. Our office and shop area has gone through
a spring cleaning and we are hoping that you stop by and say hi! We now have a display table to
show off our projects and past events.
We will be at the West Sound STEM Showcase on April 22, 2017 at the Kitsap Mall. We will
be demonstrating applied science and other items of interest so please drop by our table.
APRIL 23, is the beginning of National Volunteer Week so we are honoring our volunteers on
that date with a Hot Dog BBQ at the Kitsap Maritime Office from 12 PM to 4 PM. Besides Hot
Dogs there will be chili, chips, soda and water. This event will honor our volunteers and it will
be our Kitsap Great Give Kick Off. Please stop by if you can.
It’s here! The Kitsap Great Give is happening on May 2, 2017. We are offering a free Kitsap Maritime T-shirt to anyone who
donates before 9 AM. You can also donate ahead of time and it
will be held (not charged) until the day of the event. This is a great
way to donate to any of your favorite non-profit organizations and
there are matching funds given by the sponsors of the event. There
will be other prizes offered throughout the day so follow us on
Facebook prior to and on the day of or come down to the office for
a balloon and a treat to take advantage of these special offers. As
an added incentive, the person who donates the highest amount will have the right to throw a pie
in Jonathan Thomas’s face or Marjorie Rowland’s face, your choice. If you are not in the local
area, you can designate someone to do it for you. Of course, it will be recorded and posted.
Thanks to all of those that have donated in the last few months. The amount we now need to
raise is about $179,000. Here are all the ways that you can donate funds to help restore our
vessel including a new way.
Fred Meyer Rewards – Fred Meyer is offering you a chance to donate to your favorite nonprofit
organization. You just sign up for the Community Rewards program by linking your Fred
Meyer Rewards Card to Kitsap Maritime Heritage Foundation at
www.fredmeyer.com/communityrewards or drop in to their service desk. You can find us by
name or number 80143. You will still earn you Rewards Points as you do today but Fred Meyer
will donate to your selected non-profit. A great way to donate without it costing you anything!
Go Fund Me Page – You can view it by going to our Facebook page or you can go directly to
https://www.gofundme.com/nm-tallship-fiddlers-dream-restoration. Amazon Smile – If you want to order something through Amazon, go to
www.smile.amazon.com and choose Kitsap Maritime as your charity of choice. Then order what
you want and .5% will go to Kitsap Maritime at no additional cost to you. It’s a great program
and we hope you take advantage of it.
Memberships into Kitsap Maritime Heritage Foundation – There are different levels that
offer discounts and other items for being a member and these are described on our web site.
They are anywhere from $40 to $1500. At this time we are offering these memberships for a 2
year period. This means it will start on January 1, 2017 and end December 31, 2018. As a
member you will also receive the newsletters and other information keeping you informed of
what your organization is doing.
Deck Plank Piece – As described above you can own a “piece” of Fiddlers Dream by purchasing
a Deck Plank Piece.
Cash Donation – Just contact us and we will be glad to assist you with your donation.
In Kind Donation – We are always looking for tools and equipment to help with restoration. If
you have something you think we can use, give us a call and we will let you know. Currently we
need flashlights.
Remember, all of your donations are tax deductible since we are a nonprofit organization.
Thank You,
Jonathan Thomas
